About Coach Matt

Matt Rogers, PhD, CSCS

I went from awkward, overweight kid to unlikely long distance runner and fitness enthusiast starting in 1976. It was the best decision of my young life. I went on to run cross-country and track for my high school, and for Eastern Kentucky University, where I earned a BS in Psychology. I then continued with a post-collegiate road racing career while earning a MS in Physical Education and Sport Psychology at the University of Kentucky.

After many years working as an exercise physiologist in fitness, rehabilitation, and research settings, I returned to school to earn a PhD in Sport Science at the University of Zululand (South Africa).  I am also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and an RRCA certified running coach.

My 40 years of running and fitness experience, combined with my academic training, hopefully means I have some wisdom and practical advice to offer readers and athletes. Click  here  for info on my coaching program.

If you have a suggestion for a blog post topic, or just a general running or fitness question, please let me know. I’ll do my best to get back to you.
